Popular Substitutions and Additions

Substitutions:

  • Citrus: If you don’t have clementines on hand, an orange will be fine for the zest and juice – it may not be as sweet, but it will get the job done.
  • Apples: If you prefer a more sour flavor, swap the gala apples for granny smith. If granny smith isn’t your favorite, any crisp apple will do.

Additions:

  • Balsamic vinegar: Add a different depth to this recipe but adding a couple tablespoons of good quality balsamic vinegar.
  • Ginger: Adding 2 tablespoons of fresh ginger brings a different flavor profile to our original recipe, but is so yummy!
