Here is an amazing clean recipe on how to make baby formula! My third child was feed this exclusively for months and thrived!
We are all on a food journey and just trying to make the best decisions we can for our kids. Two of my three kids have experienced both breastfeeding and formula. Both of which have their own pros and cons.
When it’s time for formula this coconut milk baby formula is an amazing option!
This last year my third child was born and when it came time to transition out of breatfeeding I struggled with which formula to choose. My main struggle cam ebcause of the research I was doing into the details of foods and preservatives. (Research not reccommended unless your willing to change everything you know about food…lol)
Facing a struggle of no longer feeling personally comfotable with baby formula I hoped to find a clean preservative free alternative. A friend of mine, whos husband is a doctor, shared with me how to make baby formula.
After a bit more research into ingredients and the recipe I was excited to give it a try! My son loved it and after a blood test our doctor determined that he was thriving on the homemade baby formula!
Why you will love this coconut milk formula.
5 Minutes to make
Full of nutrients
No preservatives
Smells good
Tastes good
All natural
Fresh
BABIES LOVE IT!

Hi. I am considering using this recipe for my baby who seems to be allergic to dairy. Has anyone you know ever successfully swapped the butter with coconut oil for a completely casein free formula? Thanks in advance for any info on this!
What about using Ghee? It would incorporate fat but there is no lactose remaining in the “butter”. Coconut oil would work well too!
How long will it last at room temperature?
I wouldn’t leave it out more then 1 hour
This is a great blog.

How much cups does this make? I want to make 4 cup batches?
One batch will make about 3 cups of formula. 🙂
This is amazing, thank you. I just want to supplement with formula now, so I’m wondering if I can freeze this to use in smaller batches?
I’ve never tried freezing this recipe but you could def try. We absolutely LOVED using this to supplement for our kids and they LOVED IT.
Can this formula be used for a 6 month old?
Absolutely!
If i do use this formula for my 6 month old, would all the measurements be the same or would they need any tweaking?
Hi there just tried making the formula and it curdled …the coconut milk is like a thick cream now…not sure what I did? Tastes great tho!
Thats so strange, did you use a high speed blender?
Is the elevated vitamin A and some other elevated things not of concern for an infant? I am looking for a homemade formula as my 4 month can not tolerate anything we have tried. The dietician and doctor have concerns about some things that are elevated.
One super simple way to address any concern for your infant is to run a blood test. Every child I have used this formula with has had AMAZING levels on every blood tests the doctors have run.
Can you use this for a newborn?
Absolutely!
Can you leave out the liver?
Yes, you can. It’s a great source of vitamins and minerals, so I would consult with your doctor if you decide to leave it out to be sure baby gets enough nutritional value.
My newborn might have galactosemia. Im looking at using this but substitute ghee for butter. Also wondering about using black strap molasses instead of maple syrup for the nutrients.
I cannot be sure about the molasses instead of maple syrup as I have not used it and this recipe was recommended by a doctor so I am not confident in making certain changes.
Do you shake the cans of coconut milk or do you refrigerate (to separate fat from water) then scoop the fat out and just use that? Then use the water left over to make up the 1/2 cup coconut water?
No, I use the full can, water, and fat. Then I also purchase separate coconut water for that part of the recipe. I have linked everything in the post so that you can see exactly what I bought and get it easily for yourself.
Thank you,,,,but ,,,,not much of this in any ones pantry. Where would you get all of this.?
I get all of these items from amazon and have linked each item in the post so you can easily access what you need and see exactly what I use.
Noticed it has 2 cups of coconut milk which is 500ml and one can is 400ml, can I add a bit more coconut water/water instead to make up the difference? I don’t want to open a whole new can for just 100 more mls. Also could you use honey instead of maple syrup? Child is over 1 years old.
No honey if under 1 year. I usually add one can and dont worry about the 100 ml different and its worked great
