How to Freeze Avocado

Materials

  • avocado as many as you would like to freeze

Instructions

Method #1: Freeze Avocados Whole

  • Wrap avocados in plastic wrap to lock in some freshness.
  • Place wrapped avocados into labeled ziplock freezer bag.
  • Seal bag, removing as much air as possible, and store in freezer for 3-6 months.

Method #2: Freeze Avocado Halves

  • Cup avocados in halves. (You can leave the pit or remove it, up to you)
  • Brush each half with lemon juice to prevent browning on avocados.
  • Wrap avocado halves in plastic wrap to lock in some freshness.
  • Place wrapped avocados into labeled ziplock freezer bags.
  • Seal bag, removing as much air as possible, and store in freezer for 3-6 months.

Method #3: Freeze Avocados Sliced/Diced

  • Cut avocado up into preferred size. You can slice or dice the avocado.
  • Mix in some lemon juice with your avocado slices.
  • Cover a baking sheet (with a lip) with parchment paper and place your avocado slices onto baking sheet.
  • Freeze avocado slices for 1-2 hours.
  • Transfer frozen avocado slices into a freezer bag. Once avocado slices are in a freezer bag remove as much air as possible and seal. 

Method #4: Freeze Avocado Mash

  • Cut up fresh ripe avocado and place into a bowl. (Make sure your avocados are very ripe if using this method.)
  • Mash avocado with a fork or in a food processor.
  • Store portioned out avocado mash in quart sized freezer bags, TIP: you can even freeze in silicone trays for smaller portions of avocado mash.
