Brisket Freezer Meal Recipe
While we choose the slow cooker method primarily for convenience, it packs a double benefit with our Brisket Freezer Meal Recipe; the low-and-slow cooking method tenderizes the meat, giving you that fall-of-the-fork level of tender you long for in a brisket. Its effortless and impressive.
Equipment
- 1 gallon freezer bag (2 gallon freezer bag depending on the size of your brisket)
- 1 Slow Cooker
Ingredients
- 3-5 lbs Beef brisket trimmed
- 2 Large Onions sliced
- 2 cups Beef broth
Sauce (Whisk Together)
- 1 tbsp Garlic powder
- 1 cup Barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup Brown sugar
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black pepper
For serving:
- Optional: Additional BBQ sauce
Instructions
Prep/Freezer Directions:
- Prepare a gallon freezer bag (2 gallon freezer bag depending on the size of your brisket), labeling according to your preferred method.
- Add brisket to freezer bag first, followed by broth, whisked sauce, and lastly sliced onions.
- Seal bag, removing as much air as possible, and freeze for up to three months.
Slow Cooker | Cooking Directions:
- Thaw for 24-36 hours in fridge before cooking.
- Dump the contents of the freezer bag into a slow cooker.
- Cook on low for 10-12 hours.
- Remove Brisket from slow cooker, and place on parchment paper covered baking sheet. Optional: Broil on high in oven for 3-5 minutes.
- Allow Brisket to rest for 30-45 minutes.
- Once rested, slice brisket against the grain and serve.
Instant Pot | Cooking Directions:
- Thaw for 24-36 hours in fridge before cooking.
- Dump the contents of the freezer bag into the Instant Pot.
- Secure the lid, set the valve to “Sealing,” and cook on High Pressure for 75-90 minutes. (If the brisket is particularly large or thick, you might need up to 90 minutes.)
- Natural release for 20 minutes, then quick release for any remaining pressure.
- Remove Brisket from Instant pot and place on parchment paper covered baking sheet. Optional: Broil on high in oven for 3-5 minutes.
- Allow Brisket to rest for 30-45 minutes.
- Once rested, slice brisket against the grain and serve.
