Popular Substitutions and Additions

Substitutions:

  • Chicken Thighs for Chicken Breasts: Substitute boneless, skinless chicken thighs for the chicken breasts. Chicken thighs are often more flavorful and moist, making them a delicious alternative in soups.
  • Fresh Celery for Frozen Diced Onion: Replace the frozen diced onion with fresh celery. Chop the celery stalk into small pieces to add a crunchy texture and savory flavor to the soup.
  • Garlic Powder for Fresh Garlic: Swap garlic powder for fresh garlic cloves. Mince two cloves of fresh garlic and sauté them with the vegetables for added depth of flavor.

Additions:

  • Bell Peppers: Add diced bell peppers for extra color and sweetness. Red, yellow, or orange bell peppers work well in this soup.
  • Sun-Dried Tomatoes: Incorporate chopped sun-dried tomatoes for a burst of umami and tanginess. Sun-dried tomatoes add depth to the soup’s flavor profile and pair wonderfully with the chicken and gnocchi.
  • Parmesan Cheese Rind: Enhance the soup’s richness with a Parmesan cheese rind. Save the rind from a wedge of Parmesan cheese and add it to the soup while it simmers.

These substitutions and additions will elevate the flavor and texture of your Chicken Gnocchi Soup Freezer Meal while utilizing the provided ingredients and ensuring freezer-friendly compatibility.
