How do you make this Crockpot Stuffing with Sausage Recipe?
Crockpot Stuffing with Sausage
Ingredients
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 16 oz loaf Italian bread
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 5 stalks celery, diced
- 1 cup carrots, diced
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2 tsp poultry seasoning
- 1 1/2 tsp sage
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 cup chicken broth
- 2 large egg, beaten
Instructions
- Dice loaf of bread and let sit out overnight to dry out. Or bake on a baking sheet at 275 for 45 minutes.
- Remove casings from sausage and brown meat to a crumble on skillet over med-high heat.
- Add stale bread into slow cooker.
- Add remaining ingredients into the slow cooker and stir.
- Cook on low for 6-7 hours. TIP: Make it pretty by sprinkling chopped fresh parsley on top.
Freezer Directions:
- Label freezer bag with recipe name, cooking from frozen directions and expiration date (today's date plus three months).
- Remove casings from sausage and brown meat to a crumble on a skillet over med-high heat.
- Drain sausage and let cool. Once cool place in gallon freezer bag.
- Add the remaining ingredients, except bread, chicken broth and eggs into freezer bag.
- NIGHT BEFORE COOKING: Dice bread and set into slow cooker to dry out the night before making this freezer stuffing with sausage recipe.
Cooking from frozen directions:
- NIGHT BEFORE COOKING: Dice bread and set it into the slow cooker to dry out the night before making this freezer stuffing with sausage recipe.
- Thaw gallon freezer bag overnight in fridge or in the morning in water (meal may not be 100% thawed but that is ok).
- Add the gallon bag to the bread and stir in chicken broth and beaten eggs.
- Cook on low for 6-7 hours. TIP: Make it pretty by sprinkling chopped fresh parsley on top.

Sausage stuffing in the slow cooker is cooked covered. If you are baking in the oven many people like to cover the stuffing until the last 30-45 minutes to crisp up the top a bit. I love my stuffing soft and delicious so I do not find it necessary to cook uncovered.
