Popular Substitutions and Additions

Substitutions:

  • Alfredo Sauce: For a creamier version of this recipe, swap the marinara sauce with alfredo. The richer, smoother texture pairs well with the sharpness of the Parmesan cheese.
  • Mixed Cheese: Using a combination of cheeses like mozzarella with gouda will add a depth to the cheese flavor and an interesting melt in the overall dish.

Additions:

  • Spinach: Stir in spinach for a nutritional boost and pop of color that is the perfect complement to the flavors and ingredients in this dish.
  • Italian Sausage: To make it heartier, add Italian Sausage to the mix. Its seasoning and texture pair beautifully with our original recipe.

How to Reheat and Store Baked Gnocchi with Tomato and Mozzarella

Best way to store Leftover Tomato Mozzarella Gnocchi Bake Meal Prep

Though having leftovers of this dish is rare because it is that good, if you end up with leftovers you can store them in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Make sure to allow your leftovers to cool as to avoid having too much condensation in your storage device.

How long will Baked Gnocchi with Tomato and Mozzarella last in the fridge?

When stored properly in an airtight container in the fridge, this Gnocchi will stay fresh for three to five days.

Can I freeze Gnocchi with Tomato Sauce Freezer Meal?

Our method is freezing raw and cooking from frozen (or slightly thawed) because reheating frozen leftovers does not always fare well. The second go of a previously-cooked and then frozen meal tends to have diminished texture and mediocre flavor. That said, it is perfectly okay and safe for you to freeze leftovers, just beware they won’t be as delish as the first round was.

To prep this meal as a raw freezer meal, add all ingredients into a 9×13 pan, stir to combine, then cover and store in the freezer for up to three months.

How to Reheat Cheesy Gnocchi Freezer Recipe?

We recommend reheating this in the oven or microwave. The stovetop is a possibility, too, but you’d need to add a little bit of water so it doesn’t burn/stick to pan.
