Philly Cheesesteaks Freezer Meal Recipe

Today, we’re bringing the iconic flavors of Philly Cheesesteak straight to your kitchen with our freezer-friendly twist on this classic dish. Think tender beef, caramelized onions, and melty cheese. It’s comfort food at its finest, straight out of the slow cooker, no mushy vibes detected.

Ingredients
  
  • 2 lbs Beef chuck roast
  • 1 Yellow onion cut into 1-inch slices
  • 1 Green pepper cut into 1-inch slices
  • 1 Red Pepper cut into 1-inch slices
  • 14.5 oz Chicken or Beef Broth 1 can
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce*
  • 1 tbsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
For serving:
  • 4-6 Hoagie rolls, ciabatta, or french bread
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese** or provolone cheese slices
Instructions
 
Make it Fresh – Slow Cooker Directions:
  • Add all ingredients, except For Serving ingredients, to the slow cooker.
  • Cook on low for 9-11 hours.
  • Use two forks to shred the beef, then stir. Remove beef and peppers with a slotted spoon, add to a hoagie roll, and top with cheese.
  • Leaving the sandwich open-faced, place in oven and broil on high for 1-3 minutes.
  • Serve and enjoy!
Freezer Meal Prep Directions
  • Prepare a gallon freezer bag, labeling according to your preferred method.***
  • Add all ingredients, except For Serving ingredients, to the freezer bag.
  • Seal bag, removing as much air as possible, and freeze for up to 3 months.
Meal Prep – Slow Cooker Directions:
  • Thaw freezer meal in the fridge for 12-24 hours before cooking.
  • Dump the contents of the freezer bag into a slow cooker.
  • Cook on low for 9-11 hours.
  • Use two forks to shred the beef, then stir. Remove beef and peppers with a slotted spoon, add to a hoagie roll, and top with cheese.
  • Leaving the sandwich open-faced, place in oven and broil on high for 1-3 minutes.
  • Serve and enjoy!
Meal Prep – Instant Pot Directions:
  • Thaw in the fridge for 12-24 hours before cooking. (Meals can be cooked from frozen, but some Instant Pots may trigger a burn notice due to slow steam generation.)
  • Dump the contents of the freezer bag into the Instant Pot, plus 1 cup water.
  • Set the Instant Pot to High Pressure for 65 minutes, then allow a natural release for 10 minutes before doing a quick release.
  • Use two forks to shred the beef, then stir. Remove beef and peppers with a slotted spoon, add to a hoagie roll, and top with cheese.
  • Leaving the sandwich open-faced, place in oven and broil on high for 1-3 minutes.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

*For gluten-free, use a gluten-free Worcestershire sauce.
**For best results, buy a block of cheese and shred at home.
***Labeling Methods:
  1. Handwrite recipe name and cooking directions on freezer bag with permanent marker.
  2. Print off a blank freezer label, write in recipe name and cooking directions, and tape onto freezer bag.
  3. Use a pre-filled sticker label, just peel and stick to your freezer bag.
